Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing

The Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing curriculum are based in the cardiovascular, strength, power and combative natures of these two arts, most commonly seen in the ring, but also effective for urban self protection situations. Joseph Robinson trained in these arts for over 20 years and has digested all he has learned to mold it into a fluid, seamless art to enhance the physical, mental and spiritual sides of training.
While it is understood that these arts can be exceedingly demanding, the curriculum is structured to accommodate and allow anyone from the absolute beginner to the seasoned warrior to step in and be challenged in developing skill while still enjoying what they learn.

WHAT WE TEACH

Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing focuses on the platforms of cardiovascular development, stamina, endurance and maintenance with dynamic striking and kicking techniques.
Our boxing curriculum is derived from the styles learned from Joe Robinson’s time with the late David Lester (A three-time Michigan Golden Gloves champion) of Detroit, MI and Kara Ro (undefeated professional boxer) of Windsor, Canada. With footwork and movement that allows the practitioner to be defensively fluid while freeing up their hands for various attacks and counters, this style allows for balance and angles to be a luxury that does not require conscious thought to maintain.
Our Muay Thai Kickboxing curriculum is heavily influenced by Joe Robinson’s time with the great champion, Matee Jedeepitak (winner of four world championships, including the coveted Lumpinee champion’s belt) over the course of close to 10 years while in Detroit, MI. Dubbed Dragon Leg, the style focuses on stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques – ferocious use of hands, feet, elbows and knees – blending these weapons into deadly combinations. This curriculum utilizes shadow boxing, bag work, pad work, partner drills, and technical application while mastering attacks, blocks and evasions, timing, distance and basics. The curriculum is adapted to work interdependently with the Filipino arts of Bayani Warrior, focused on the aspects viable for practical, urban combative self protection. The art takes aim at developing the discipline, dedication, respect and courage to face and abolish any obstacle we face.
PRIVATE LESSONS
One-on-one lessons are offered for individuals and pairs who want to enhance their skills further and faster or perhaps focus on developing specific aspects outside of the group setting if you’re struggling in a particular area in your training.
